Son won’t help me install control device until I read the manual

Sometimes my youngsters entirely drive me crazy.

They assume that they are so smart and they use it against me.

I wish that I hadn’t forced them to become such well-read, well-rounded children throughout their upbringing. Maybe, then they would be a little more grateful and less smart-assy with me. Unluckyly, this has not been the case with my youngest son and his entitled attitude. A few months ago I had a straight-forward request for him – I asked if he could help me to install a smart control device in my condo instead of the old plastic dial control device that I had been using for 30 years. I thought it would be particularly straight-forward for him to help me research and install a current temperature control device for the central heating and cooling system. He is, after all, a computer scientist. It should be no issue for him to understand the technical requirements for the smart control units and quickly wire it to the air conditioner device and forced air furnace. Too awful for me, my harshly intelligent son has decided that he doesn’t want to be burdened with helping his mom with indoor air quality control. Namely, he doesn’t want to be responsible for programming or resetting the control device after it’s installed. My son insists that he will not install the smart control device until I can pass a quiz designed around the smart control device manual. I assume that it’s deranged when he could simply teach me what the smart control device manual tells him. At this point, my great friend and I are in a standoff and my air quality keeps getting worse.
