The addition to our home will need additional ductwork

I know that the addition to our home is going to need some additional ductwork once we get started, and I am a little bit concerned that it is going to end up pushing us over our budget.

We have been saving up a lot of money over the past couple of years so that we can get this addition put onto our house.

We are going to be building on a couple of extra bedrooms, a huge walk-in closet, and a half bath. Doing a big project like putting an addition onto your home is very stressful, but when you think that you are not going to be able to finish it correctly, that makes it even more stressful! We were not really thinking about the fact that the extra square footage was going to be an issue for our heating and cooling system, but our contractor recently brought that up to us. He said that we needed to make sure that our existing HVAC system would be able to handle the extra load that it would be carrying once we finished the extra rooms. I called the local heating and cooling company to have them come out and check things out for us, and it turns out that we are going to have to put in some additional ductwork. That is going to be pretty expensive, and now I’m thinking that we might end up going another route. I’m not sure exactly what we are going to do, but now we are looking into zone control heating and cooling and also ductless mini splits. I guess there are more options for us than I originally thought. I’m hoping that we can avoid putting in ventilation ducts.
