I love living up North

My parents were born and raised way down South, and that is all that they ever knew.

My dad refused to move up North when he had the opportunity about twenty years ago.

I was just a little girl at the time, so I did not understand why my dad did not want to move. All I knew was that there was snow up North where we could have moved, and I had never actually seen snow in person before. I wanted to move up North so badly. Well, I ended up going to college and meeting the man of my dreams who just so happened to be a northerner. When we finished our degrees, we got married and moved up north. He already had a job secured in the city that he grew up in, so it was obvious that we had to live up North and not down South with my family. I do miss my family, but I absolutely love living up North. I love the cool weather. My husband and I have never used an air conditioner in our house. It is just not hot enough to need an air conditioner even in the middle of the summer. I just put a couple of fans in the windows downstairs, and it keeps the house at a comfortable temperature. We do have to use the furnace about three-fourths of the year though because it gets quite cold here, but I love it, and I love the snow just as I thought that I would as a little girl.
