I recently got my own apartment for the very first time.
- I’ve always lived with friends or boyfriends but decided it was finally time for me to move out on my own.
I was a little nervous because I wasn’t sure what to expect since I’m used to having people around me all the time. I also have four brothers so before I moved out of my parents house I still have people around me constantly. However, I have started to really enjoy my free time in the little things that make living alone better. One thing I wasn’t expecting was I would be able to change the temperature of the thermostat to whatever I want. I am always cold in my house but I think that’s because my boyfriend that I lived with before wanted the temperature of the thermostat lowered all the time. He hated the idea of being hot while he slept so not only did he have the air conditioner blasting all night long but also had a ceiling fan turned on. I basically had to sleep in sweatpants and a sweatshirt just to stay warm. I absolutely hated living like that and now I don’t have to. I can keep the temperature of my house whatever I want and I have never felt more free. I hope that I notice a difference in my utility bills because when I lived with my boyfriend before they were always extremely high. Now I realize it was because of his air-conditioning habits.
